QUEST
Queen's University Experimental Sustainability Team
GET INVOLVED!
Do you have a passion for sustainability, or a new idea for a green initiative? We're always looking for new members! Our meetings on Mondays and Thursdays at 5:30PM in the QUEST team space. We are located on the first floor of the ILC in Room 115D.
QUEST, the Queen’s University Experimental Sustainability Team, was founded in 2012 as a rebranded version of the former Living Energy Lab. This new team’s goal is to achieve sustainable living completely independent of outside resources. This involves creating or harvesting energy independent of the power grid, growing food, collecting, cleaning and storing water, minimizing waste, and addressing many other aspects of day-to-day life. QUEST hopes to address unsustainable human behaviours and habits by designing systems that change the very way we use energy and resources.
QUEST also aims to develop its members as professionals. The team provides a multi-discipline setting in which to apply skills and knowledge acquired through school and extracurricular activities. Members will also be encouraged and sponsored to attend conferences on sustainability and engineering. Lastly, during the 2013-2014 academic year, QUEST will be implementing a buddy system between executive and general members. The buddy system will give general members a chance to learn how to manage a team in addition to participating in design projects.
